Sugarcane is not just sweet—it’s the secret to this coffee’s natural decaffeination process. Using ethyl acetate, a compound derived from fermented sugarcane molasses, this Colombian decaf is gently washed free of caffeine while preserving the coffee’s natural sweetness and complexity.
Colombia leads the world in sugarcane decaf production, combining their expertise in coffee cultivation with an abundance of sugarcane to create a sustainable, chemical-free method. The process involves soaking and steaming green coffee in a sugarcane-based ethyl acetate solution, repeating the cycle to remove about 97% of caffeine. Afterward, the beans are cleaned, steamed, and dried—ready for roasting, with no ethyl acetate remaining.
The result is a decaf that’s balanced and vibrant, with notes of citrus fruit, cocoa powder, and plum. A comforting cup that delivers full flavor, minus the caffeine.
