Producer Story

In the lush, mist-covered mountains of Zongozotla, Puebla, just beneath the summit of Cerro El Cozol, a cooperative of smallholder farmers is cultivating more than coffee—they're preserving a way of life. This tight-knit group of producers has deep roots in the region's cafetalero (coffee-growing) tradition, passing down their knowledge of the land through generations.

Under a forested, humid climate, the cooperative has renovated and revitalized their Arabica farms, demonstrating an unwavering commitment to quality and sustainability that shines through from harvest to post-harvest processing. Their dedication to preserving traditional methods while embracing quality improvements represents the best of Mexican coffee heritage.

The Process

This exceptional washed-process coffee reflects the cooperative's meticulous approach to quality. Through selective harvesting, careful sorting, and precise drying practices, they preserve the integrity of every cup. The traditional varieties—Typica, Bourbon, and Caturra—thrive at 1200 meters above sea level, where the forested environment and humid climate create ideal growing conditions.

This lot comes from one of the trusted producer groups in the small, quality-focused network supported and exported by Café San Felipe, ensuring traceability and fair compensation for these dedicated farmers.

The Cup

This beautifully balanced washed coffee showcases the rich, approachable character that Mexican highlands are known for. The cup opens with deep cocoa notes that provide a comforting foundation, complemented by the nutty richness of almond. Brown sugar sweetness adds warmth and complexity, while a bright lime finish brings a refreshing citrus lift that cleanses the palate.

The classic varieties and careful processing create a harmonious cup that celebrates both tradition and quality, delivering the familiar comfort of Mexican coffee with exceptional clarity and depth.

From the mist-covered mountains of Puebla—where tradition meets quality in every cup.
