Guatemala - San Miguel Bonanza

from 6.00

During Coffee Fest Indianapolis in May of 2019, we had the opportunity to meet Javier Palacios of Guats Coffee, a vertically integrated coffee importer based in Huehuetenango. We had the chance to meet with Javier at our roastery, where we discussed our approach to coffee sourcing and our plans for the future, and were pleased to find that our collective goals in support of sustainability and direct trade aligned perfectly.

After cupping several coffees Javier brought with him to the states, we fell in love with this unique lot consisting of pacamara and maragogipe varietals grown in Santa Cruz Barillas by Mike Ottoniel Mérida Reyes. One of the many reasons we loved this coffee was the sparkling fruit characteristics of the lot, reminiscent of kiwi and cherry.

For fans of complex Guatemalan coffees, San Miguel Bonanza is an excellent choice. Beyond the dense sweetness and fruit characteristics, this lot also showcases a subtle note of hazelnut and sweet almond, making it versatile in many brew methods.

San Miguel Bonanza was recently awarded a Bronze medal at the 2019 Golden Bean Competition in Nashville, TN in the Pour Over/Filter category!
